Rubber flooring compared with other surfaces
What will you find in the guide?

Rubber, vinyl, sports wood, turf and foam surfaces serve different uses. Begin the comparison with the activity, then consider cost and appearance.

Weight areas and studios have different needs

In weight areas, consider how weights are set down or dropped and the supporting subfloor. In a studio, examine movement, footwear and maintenance. A thicker or softer surface is not automatically better for every activity.

Compare the complete system

Compare a specified product with its installation method, underlayers and transitions. Include subfloor preparation, joints and finishing in the price. Two products of the same thickness can be part of different floor systems.

Include maintenance and acoustics

Request cleaning instructions and a finish sample. For noise requirements, examine test data for the specified floor assembly and its conditions. Do not transfer one product’s result to another; sensitive buildings require a system-level assessment.

Combine materials for a clear purpose

Different activities may justify different surfaces. Plan transitions and edges so the zoning supports use. EUROTEC can help organise alternatives around the facility plan without assuming one material belongs everywhere.
