EUROTEC / FLOORING & ACOUSTIC PLANNING

The layers below.
The spaces around.

EUROTEC connects free-weight area planning with the requirements of the building. Review Gymcoustic systems, layer cutaways and test data with the project team to coordinate the flooring specification.

Weights and stability

A floor needs to support the athlete as well as respond to impacts.

Performance by configuration

Compare defined build-ups and their test conditions.

01 / FIVE SYSTEM DIRECTIONS

One training area.
Several build-up options.

Each row represents a particular build-up. Example figures come from the Gymcoustic brochure identified with the table; they do not predict the result in your building.

GYMCOUSTIC / BASIC

Basic Line

Standalone finishing tiles

A starting point for free-weight areas, with a style or base finishing tile.

GYMCOUSTIC / ALL-ROUND

All-Round Line

Tile plus elastic underlay

A finishing tile combined with a 10 mm team cup X underlay.

GYMCOUSTIC / ACOUSTIC

Acoustic Line

Profiled acoustic underlay

A style or base tile combined with a shockwave 3D underlay.

GYMCOUSTIC / PERFORMANCE

Performance Line

Thicker tile, with an optional extra layer

A 70 mm style tile, on its own or over a 20 mm supercell layer.

GYMCOUSTIC / CUSTOM

Custom Line

Project-specific design

A project-specific combination of SPORTEC, DAMTEC layers and PuraSys vibration-control elements.

SPORTEC / finish & elastic layer
DAMTEC / as required by the floor build-up
PuraSys / vibration control by design

There is no single performance value for a Custom system. Review the build-up with the manufacturer and acoustical consultant for the structure, loads and performance target.

Data source: Gymcoustic brochure, 2023 edition, for the listed configurations. Weight-drop test: 50 kg from 0.5 m. Stability rating is a manufacturer metric, not a universal standards classification.

Some configuration values differ between the brochure and the manufacturer webpage. Before specification, confirm the applicable report for the selected build-up.

02 / UNDERSTAND THE NUMBERS

Different measurements.
Different questions.

ΔLw

Impact sound

Describes improvement in an impact-sound test build-up. It is not a direct measurement of every exercise or building.

ΔLiAFmax

Weight-drop performance

Describes improvement in a maximum-level metric under a defined drop scenario. Mass, height and test substrate matter.

%

Absorption and stability

Shock absorption and underfoot deflection describe different properties. Review both alongside the planned activity.

03 / PLAN THE WHOLE FLOOR

What should be checked
before selection?

The building and nearby spaces

  • What is below and beside the training zone?
  • What is the existing slab, screed and finish build-up?
  • What system height and transition levels are possible?
  • What substrate and moisture conditions are required?

The activity and installation

  • What weights, equipment and exercises are planned?
  • What loads and repeated movements are expected?
  • How will edges, joints and wall junctions be detailed?
  • What care instructions apply to the chosen finish?

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions that move
the plan forward.

Does a dB figure predict noise in the room below?

No. It describes a defined measurement and tested build-up. Results in a building also depend on the structure, junctions, equipment, activity and installation. Involve an acoustical consultant where needed.

Can a system go over an existing floor?

Some systems are intended for installation over a stable, load-bearing existing substrate. Review moisture, flatness, floor levels, headroom and transitions before selection.

Is a softer system always better?

Underfoot stability and the exercise also matter. Shock absorption, impact sound and stability are different properties and need to be reviewed together.

When is a Custom solution needed?

When acoustic or structural requirements extend beyond a standard finishing-floor build-up. Under-screed layers and vibration-control elements can be considered with the manufacturer and consultant.
